Sustainable Aviation Fuel

(SAF)
Definition

A type of biofuel or synthetic fuel designed to power aircraft with a lower carbon footprint compared to conventional jet fuels. SAF is produced from renewable sources, such as plant materials, waste oils, or synthetic processes, and aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reliance on fossil fuels in the aviation sector. SAF can be used as a drop-in replacement for traditional jet fuel, helping to mitigate the environmental impact of air travel.
