Nitrous Oxide

(N₂O)
Definition

A colourless, non-flammable gas with a slightly sweet odor, commonly known as laughing gas. It is used in medical settings for anesthesia and pain relief, as well as in agriculture as a fertilizer. Nitrous oxide is also a significant greenhouse gas, with a global warming potential much higher than carbon dioxide. It contributes to ozone layer depletion and is produced from agricultural activities, fossil fuel combustion, and certain industrial processes.
