New Zealand Unit

(NZU)
Definition

A unit of tradeable carbon emissions allowance under the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme (NZ ETS). Each NZU represents the right to emit one metric ton of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO₂e). NZUs are used to help businesses meet their emissions reduction obligations and can be bought or sold on the carbon market.
