Korean Offset Credit

(KOC)
Definition

A type of carbon credit issued under South Korea's emissions trading system. Each KOC represents one ton of carbon dioxide (CO₂) or its equivalent in greenhouse gases that has been reduced or removed from the atmosphere through projects outside the cap-and-trade system. These credits can be used by companies to meet their emission reduction obligations under the Korean Emissions Trading System (KETS), providing a way to support additional emission reduction projects while complying with regulatory requirements.
