Definition

Official currency of the Eurozone, which consists of 20 of the 27 European Union (EU) member countries. It is symbolized by € and is used for financial transactions and as a unit of account across the Eurozone. The Euro is managed by the European Central Bank (ECB) and the Eurosystem, and it aims to facilitate economic stability and integration among member states.
