Chinese Certified Emission Reduction
(CCER)
Definition
Carbon credits issued under China’s carbon market mechanism. These credits represent one tonne of CO₂ equivalent that has been reduced or removed from the atmosphere through approved projects, such as renewable energy or energy efficiency initiatives, within China. The CCER program allows organizations to generate and trade these credits as a way to meet their emissions reduction targets, providing financial incentives for projects that contribute to China’s climate goals.
