Beijing Carbon Emission Allowances
(BEA)
Definition
A carbon trading system implemented in Beijing, China. These allowances represent the right to emit a specified amount of carbon dioxide (CO₂) and are traded within the city’s carbon market. The BEA system aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by setting a cap on total emissions and allowing companies to buy and sell allowances to meet their emissions reduction targets.
