Nitrogen Trifluoride
(NF₃)
Definition
A colourless, non-flammable gas used primarily in the electronics industry as a cleaning agent for the production of semiconductors. It is a potent greenhouse gas with a high global warming potential, although it is present in very low concentrations in the atmosphere. Due to its strong greenhouse effect, NF₃ contributes to climate change, making its management and reduction important in environmental strategies.
