Definition
A collective term for nitrogen monoxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), which are gases produced during the combustion of fossil fuels. Nitrogen oxides are significant air pollutants that contribute to smog, acid rain, and the formation of ground-level ozone, impacting air quality and human health. They are released from sources such as vehicles, industrial processes, and power plants.
