Negative Emissions Technologies

(NETs)
Definition

Technologies and methods designed to remove carbon dioxide (CO₂) from the atmosphere and reduce the overall concentration of greenhouse gases. Examples include direct air capture, bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS), and afforestation or reforestation. These technologies are employed to counteract emissions that are difficult to eliminate and contribute to achieving net-zero emissions targets.
