Liquified Natural Gas

(LNG)
Definition

Natural gas that has been cooled to a liquid state at approximately -162°C (-260°F) for ease of storage and transport. In its liquid form, natural gas takes up about 1/600th of its volume compared to its gaseous state, making it more efficient to transport over long distances, especially where pipelines are not feasible. LNG is used for power generation, heating, and as a fuel for vehicles and ships.
