Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes

(ITOMs)
Definition

Carbon credits or emission reductions that can be transferred between countries under the Paris Agreement. They are used to meet national climate targets and contribute to global emission reduction goals. ITMOs are generated through climate action projects or policies in one country and can be transferred to another country to help both parties achieve their climate commitments, ensuring the reductions are real and additional.
