Carbon sequestration / Sequestered emissions
Definition
The process of storing carbon in a carbon pool. Carbon sequestration differs from carbon dioxide removals (CDR) in that in the latter the CO2 must be captured (either directly or indirectly) from the atmosphere, while carbon sequestration also includes processes that capture CO2 from fossil fuels (i.e. CCS).
Additional Notes
Related to CDR, GHG removals
